Nutrition at Stepping Stones Learning Center

Our Nutritional Meals & Snacks

At First Foundation Preschool, we follow the Texas Department of Health & Human Services standards to ensure every meal supports your child’s health, growth, and learning. All meals and snacks adhere to state guidelines, offering vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins, and low-fat dairy in appropriate portion sizes.

Children are served regular meals plus snacks. No child goes more than three hours without nourishment—not counting naptime. Fresh drinking water is available throughout the day, including during meals, snacks, and active play, Menus incorporate colorful fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins—minimizing processed foods, added sugars, and saturated fats. We uphold a strict nut‑free policy—no peanuts or tree nuts are allowed in our meals.

Our policies prohibit the use of foods listed on a child’s allergy action plan and avoid food as a behavioral reward. For infants, we follow states protocols—offering breastmilk or iron-fortified formula, and introducing age-appropriate solids under parental guidance. We provide sample meal calendars and maintain daily menu records, ensuring you always know what your child is eating and can plan around nutrition preferences or allergies.

By meeting and exceeding state and federal nutrition standards, First Foundation Preschool ensures every child receives wholesome, delicious meals and snacks that support healthy development and cultivate lifelong eating habits.
